K-pop’s kings BTS stunned the world on Wednesday with their announcement that they’ll be on the road for a while and focus on their solo careers.
The announcement by the boy group was made around 20 minutes into the hour-long FESTA dinner, where the members, RM, Jin, SUGA J-Hope Jimin, V, and Jungkook, recounted their experiences as a group.
Suga told, “We’re going on a hiatus now,” at a casually informal dinner. “Should we talk about why we’re not doing the FESTA or making content?”
“Should we get into that?” asked RM.
The members discussed the necessity of taking an unplanned break from the schedule they have had to stick to since. The dedicated followers of BTS are the thing that BTS members are most concerned about.
Jimin added, “We can’t help but think of our fans no matter what — we want to be the kind of artists that are remembered by our fans. “I think now we’re starting to think about what kind of artists we each want to be remembered by our fans. I think that’s why we’re going through a rough patch right now, we’re trying to find our identity and that’s an exhausting and long process. Our fans know us and we know us.”
BTS is not the first group to be having breaks. They did have an entire month off in the year 2019, and then they also took an “extended period of rest” towards the end of 2021. All seven BTS members are superstars on their own.
